                                Welcome to the Hatherly Art Website. The purpose of this site is to celebrate and inform parents, guardians and friends about what we create and accomplish through our art classes.
                                Students not only learn art techniques and skills to create works in such areas as drawing, painting and printmaking, they also are introduced to art movements and artists. Just as important though, are the very valuable life skills and habits of mind that a strong art curriculum can teach. Through art students learn and practice persistence, problem solving, observation, innovation, recognition of connections, and self-reflection.

                                 It is my goal that your children love the time they spend in the art room. Please visit the student galleries to view examples of art lessons. Additionally, you can find links to local museums, artists and kid friendly websites. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at Lberton@scit.org

                                Expectations
                                At Hatherly School we are expected to:

                                Respect Ourselves
                                Respect Others
                                Respect Our School

                                In the art room these principles are demonstrated through:
                                giving our best effort all the time
                                showing pride in our efforts
                                 learning from our mistakes
                                showing kindness in our words and actions
                                listening silently, working quietly (mostly)
                                using materials and tools properly
                                 cleaning up safely, quickly, quietly ( gives us more art time)
